About the Project
'Old Houses of Lithuania' is a foundational visual research project, consistently developed since 2006, dedicated to documenting the vanishing wooden architecture and regional cultural landscapes of rural Lithuania. Grounded in a rigorous documentary methodology and utilizing exclusively analog film photography, this archive records the irreversible erosion of heritage, revealing the profound weight of temporality, isolation, and historical melancholy.
The project deliberately distances itself from traditional rural romanticism or superficial sentimentality. It operates as a systematic visual study, serving as a sustainable repository of cultural memory that transforms the material past of the provinces into an irreplaceable documentary testament for future generations and heritage researchers.
